Ingredients

Peanut Butter Bacon Beggin' Strips

  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter (natural peanut butter with no added sugar or salt is best for dogs)*

  • ¼ cup low-sodium beef broth

  • 3 pieces of bacon, cooked and chopped

  • 2 Tbsp bacon grease

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 ¼ cups whole-wheat flour

  • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats

Directions

Peanut Butter Bacon Beggin' Strips

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the peanut butter, beef broth, chopped bacon, bacon grease, and egg until well combined. Add in the flour and oats and mix until incorporated.

  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and use a rolling pin to roll the dough out to a ¼-inch thick rectangle. Use a sharp knife to cut the dough into 1-inch wide by 3-inch long strips.

  4. Use a spatula to pick each strip up and transfer to the prepared baking sheet, using your fingers to create a ripple or two in each strip to resemble a piece of bacon.

  5. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Allow the treats to cool completely.

*NOTE: Be sure to check your peanut butter for xylitol, which is extremely toxic to dogs.
