Made with natural, dog-friendly ingredients like sweet potatoes, honey, turkey, peas, carrots, and whole wheat flour, this nutritious, healthy, and safe pupcake will become your pup’s new favorite treat. This easy-to-make treat is disguised as a fancy indulgence, and the smell alone will drive your dog crazy. The crowning glory is the fluffy frosting made with cream cheese, sweet potato, and honey. The thought of sweet potato frosting may not appeal to humans, but our canine companions love it. Ingredients

Turkey Sweet Potato Pupcake

  • 1¼ cup whole wheat flour

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • ½ cup sweet potato puree (I use baby food)

  • ⅓ plain Greek yogurt

  • ¼ cup coconut oil

  • ¼ cup honey

  • 1 large egg

  • ¾ pound lean ground turkey, cooked and fat drained

  • ⅔ cup frozen peas and carrots


Sweet Potato Frosting

  • 4 oz cream cheese, room temperature

  • ¼ cup sweet potato puree (I use baby food)

  • 1 Tbsp honey

Directions

Turkey Sweet Potato Pupcake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9-inch cake pan with nonstick cooking spray.

  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.

  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the sweet potato puree, yogurt, coconut oil, honey, and egg until combined.

  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until evenly moistened. Then gently fold in the turkey, peas, and carrots.

  5. Spoon the batter into the prepared cake pan and use an offset spatula to smooth to the edges.

  6. Bake for 22-27 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting.


Sweet Potato Frosting

  1. In a small bowl, use an electric handheld mixer to beat the cream cheese until light and fluffy. Add in the sweet potato and honey and beat until combined.

  2. Pipe or spread the frosting onto the cooled cake and decorate as desired.
